New Team Name

* * * BREAKING NEWS * * *

The newest franchise in the FFFL - owned by Jason - is named...wait for it...Graball My Balls.

When asked to explain his squad's name, Jason issued the following response: "Graball is a town located in Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee. Our franchise is too talented to be contained in one state, so we wanted to select a name that would allow us to play home games in three different states."

New Rules

For the record, here are the new rules that were voted in:

- During the regular season, we will now have ties.

- 6 teams will make the playoffs. The two teams with the best records in each division will advance, as will the next two teams with the highest point totals (regardless of record or division).

- In the playoffs, the tiebreaker will be the highest point total of any player in your starting line-up. The second tiebreaker will be the second highest point total of any player in your starting line-up. The third tiebreaker will be the third highest point total of any player in your starting line-up, etc.

- Going forward, the champion each year will be required to buy a jacket and present it to the following year's champion.

Boogie's Preseason Rankings

You know what's the great thing about the preseason? Everyone is undefeated. But since I know some of you need bulletin board material to motivate your squads, here are my preseason rankings:

1. Kona Sea Urchins (Kav)
If Kav's three-headed monster (Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, and Larry Fitzgerald) stays healthy, the rest of us will likely be fighting for second place.

2. Needmore Action (Willey)
The Draft Dominator helped Willey do just that. Romo, Turner, Matthews, Cal. Johnson, Boldin, Maclin, Celek, and Akers should be the strongest starting line-up in Week 1.

3. Crotch Lake Crumbs (Fryxell)
A proven backfield (MJD & S. Jackson) with an up-and-coming supporting cast (Flacco, CJ Spiller, Roddy White, Colston, M. Floyd).

4. Cripple Creek Chili-Covered Donuts (Casterton)
Locked up the best starting WRs in the League (A. Johnson, D. Jackson, S. Smith). If Favre duplicates last year's performance and Ryan Grant and Beanie Wells stay healthy, CCD will be a lock to make the playoffs.

5. Brooklyn Bombers (Saber)
The Brady to Moss combo could be lethal. If two of Saber's RBs (Benson, Williams, Stewart, McFadden) put up decent numbers, the Bombers should be in the mix.

6. Moorehead Please (Swanny)
Swanny has three studs (Brees, Mendenhall, & B. Marshall) and then a bunch of question marks. Guys like Moreno, Harrison, Harvin, and Davis could all boom or bust.

7. Earth Wind and Fire (J Boogie)
If AP holds on to the ball and one of Boogie's other RBs pans out, Earth could cause some damage with Schaub, Austin, Bowe, and Shiancoe.

8. Graball My Balls (Jason)
First-time auction participant desperately needs 2 RBs to have breakout seasons. Rodgers, Wayne, and Jennings should put up big numbers, but McCoy and Thomas appear to be the weakest starting RBs in the league.

9. Dewey Decimals (TP)
Things started off bad with the selection of Ochocinco. Manning should be solid, but staking your squad's success on the backs of Gore and Greene seems risky.

10. Macon Love (Big B)
If half of Big B's young guns play like Ray Rice last year, Macon will once again contend for the title. But that's a BIG "if." Until guys like Foster, Charles, Best, Crabtree, Wallace, and Lou Nanne prove themselves in the regular season, the Love will not move up in the rankings based solely on their status as 3-Time Defending Champions.

Rosters Loaded!

The rosters have been loaded...So go and double check that I got everyone that you drafted! I will put out a list of the co-commish ranking system a little later!!! TP

* * * BREAKING NEWS * * *

Effective immediately, Kav is moving his franchise to Kona. His franchise will compete in the upcoming season as the Kona Sea Urchins. When asked to explain his decision, Kav issued the following response:

Message From Big B

Big B wanted to send the following message out to the entire league:

* * * * *

I have updated my signature - pretty simple actually. Just add another year.
Big B
Macon Love
FFFL Champions 2007 & 2008 & 2009

I also have two proposals to add to the one below that Boogie sent out:

1) Next season - 2011 - we have the auction in the Southern Burbs. I call this the "CCD we care" proposal. Think about it fellas. Once every three or four years it would be nice to have the auction in a location that would spare three of us an extra hour on a Sunday night. I get that for the majority of the people in the league it is closer to have it downtown - I get that. But for the past four years it has been at Boogies, Jones, Boogies, and now Saber. Enough is enough - bring it back south. I am proposing a year in advance to host the event at our place in Bloomington - if you don't like the drive then move closer to us (Willey, CCD, and I - the down south folks). Plus, I'm the champion and it would be wise for some of you to follow my advice - those aren't just words boys - those are actions as I am spending your money every year! If you don't like it then beat me... until then... come south.

2) Previous Champion keeps the jacket and buys the next Champions jacket that is shown at the auction BEFORE the season. Phil does not give his green jacket back, nor will I. I am wanting to keep the green jacket (well I kind of have with my domination the past three years) and am proposing to have a new jacket each year, purchased by the previous champion - imagine the winners dinner when we wear our jackets - (we should have a dinner paid for by the previous years winner - like the PGA Championship - did you hear about YE Yang's Korean dinner this past year - did not sound good).

Those are my ideas - I bid Sidney Rice for 5 dollars - some of you may think that it is a waste and it would for you since your season ends at week 13 but for us in Macon it is always 16 weeks long!

Proposed Rule Change (Again)

Because I still think it makes sense, I'm re-posting Big B's proposed rule change that he submitted last year. We'll vote on this rule on Auction Night.

* * * * *

Commish Boogie and So-Called Commish Pawlicki (The season has not even started and the "video" that was supposed to be out two days ago is no where to be seen):

The Macon Love would like to propose the following rule to be voted on at the auction on Sunday August 23rd, 2009.

- 13 weeks of the season.
- Each week, each team will have a total of two outcomes.
- It could be 2-0, it could be 1-1, it could be 0-2.
- The first outcome will result in head-to-head play, as we have done since the start of the FFFL. - The second outcome will result in "upper half or lower half weekly finish".

If you have one of top 5 weekly scores for the entire league, you get a win. If you have a bottom 5 point total for the entire league, you get a loss.

- I propose this for the following reasons:

(1) It eliminates the scenario where the top two weekly scorers happen to play each other and the 2nd highest point-getter for the week walks away with nothing to show for it. Team B scores 107 points but happens to play the Macon Love who put up the usual 119 so Team B gets a loss. Meanwhile Pawlicki puts up a 53 but walks away with a win because he played B Jones who was starting Steve Young and Roger Craig and racked up a whopping 49 points.

(2) It takes away the stacked division wildcard and truly rewards the top five teams for the week. It balances the playing field. So in the end, we would each have a total of 26 outcomes. Macon Love could end up 22-4, while J Boogie could be 18-8, and Saber 1-25.

We would need to do the following:
1) Find a website that allows you to customize your league. I believe espn does allow you to do this.
2) Be willing to change, it may be the hardest part for all of us, but how awesome has the auction been and that was a change for us. In short we....

- Still have head-to-head play
- Still have two divisions
- Simply add a 2nd outcome/result for each team based on a top 5 or bottom 5 score for the week
- Would have 26 results for each team before playoffs. Playoffs would be old-school, strictly based on head-to-head.

These are the thoughts of the two-time defending champion Macon Love. Think like a champion does.

Sincerely,

Big B
Macon Love
FFFL Champions 2007 & 2008
PS: I'm wearing the green jacket as I write this ... and nothing else.

Roster Rules

As you prepare for the auction, here are the rules to keep in mind:

- You have $200 to spend on the night of the auction
- You have to select 13 players - no more, no fewer
- The starting line-ups will be the same as last year:
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 K
- Each team will have 5 back-ups
- Pick-ups require a minimum bid of $2, and will go to the highest bidder. (The window to place pick-up bids will be open each week from Sunday @ noon to Wednesday @ 10:00 pm, unless otherwise noted.)
